Want to de-clutter and help raise money for the Community Centre and Village Hall? We are considering holding a ‘Yard Sale Trail’ around the village on Saturday 15th June. This would consist of a series of yard sales around the village, and listed on a map which would be made available at the Community Centre for people wishing to visit all the yards. To include your yard on the map, you would need to notify us of your sale in advance and we are asking for a minimum donation of £5. If you would like to register your interest in this event, please contact Jim on 01406 371755, Margaret on 01406 370513, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org, or a message via Facebook/Twitter.
Moulton Community Association exists to maintain both the Community Centre and Village Hall for the enjoyment of all, and we desperately need new people to join us, specifically for the following roles:
- Secretary/Minute Taker – must be able to use Word and email
- Fundraising events – we cannot keep both buildings open on rental income alone. 2018 was a very busy year, with bingo nights, quizzes, and of course, the very successful Garden Crawl & Scarecrow Weekend, but we need people to organise such events and bring in new ideas.
- Help with publicity/website/social media – will require some computer knowledge.
- General maintenance/buildings knowledge – small jobs are carried out either by our caretaker or by committee members when they have the time. Some jobs require professionals, who have to be paid, and such jobs need someone to obtain quotes and liaise with tradespeople.
We have regular monthly meetings on the first Monday of every month. Our next meeting is this coming Monday, 4th February. If you would like to help us in any way, please feel free to come along to one of our meetings to get a ‘feel’ for what we do. You can register your interest by either contacting our booking officer Margaret, on 01406 370513, or by sending an email to email@example.com, or a message via Facebook/Twitter.
Our monthly bingo sessions resume for 2019, the first one being on Wednesday 23rd January. They will be on the fourth Wednesday of every month throughout the year. Doors open 6.45pm, eyes down 7.30pm.
This website, together with our Facebook and Twitter pages are now 7 years old! Please note that if you are a Twitter user, our page is becoming confused with the Community Centre in Moulton, Northampton! We are in LINCOLNSHIRE!
Moulton is a unique village in that we have not just one community building but TWO. The Community Association was formed in 1982 to maintain both the Community Centre and the Village Hall, which we cannot do by general hire alone. We have to maintain a programme of fundraising events, which was very busy last year, with quiz nights, bingo, variety shows, and of course, the very successful Garden Crawl & Scarecrow Weekend. We have our AGM on Monday 7th January and really need some new volunteers to help organise such events, and to bring in some new ideas. We also need someone to take minutes at meetings (must have IT skills). Additional help with publicity, maintaining the website and social media pages, knowledge of general building maintenance and sourcing quotes would also be welcome. If you are able to help, just come along to our AGM at 7pm in the small hall at the Community Centre.
Just over 100 people enjoyed our ‘Carols on the Green’ event on Wednesday 12th December. The evening began on the village green, where members of Spalding U3A group led the singing for approximately half an hour before moving on to the Community Centre, where everyone was offered mince pies and a free cup of mulled wine (donated by committee members Tim and Jeanette). The singing continued, and we would like to thank the members of Spalding U3A for giving up their time.
We would also like to thank everyone for their support throughout the year. 2018 has been very busy for us, with bingo, quiz nights, the variety show and of course, the very successful Garden Crawl and Scarecrow Weekend. At present, the only event we have planned for 2019 is bingo on Wednesday 23rd January. We are likely to be discussing future events at our next committee meeting on Monday 7th January, which will take place immediately after our Annual General Meeting at 7pm. If you would like to help us keep these lovely building open and help us with our fundraising initiatives, then please come along and join us!
Bring own lantern or torch!
We’ve got the decorations up and we’re all set for Christmas Bingo tomorrow evening! Some of the prizes will be Christmasey themed and there may be a mince pie or two! Doors open 6.45pm, eyes down 7.30pm.
